#GirlGaze: Uncensored opened Friday, September 29th at Subliminal Projects and female power was out in full force!
The show featured raw and intimate depictions of feminity, in all the ways it can manifest, all shot by talented female photographers.
Traditional ideas of heteronormative gender were pushed and broken in wonderful and liberating ways.
I personally was incredibly inspired by the show and consider it one of my favorite Subliminal opening to date.
For those of you unfamiliar with #GirlGaze, it is a social media movement started by model and photographer Amanda de Cadenet, who wanted a way to call attention to and empower female photographers and depict images of femininity for the female gaze. We also made a sweet shirt for the show, featuring art Shepard created in collaboration with Girl Gaze. You can get yours now at Subliminal Projects’ site.
#GirlGaze: Uncensored runs until October 28th at Subliminal Projects in Echo Park. DON’T miss it!
