OBEY Posse, meet out latest artist series collaborator Kelly Breeze – multi-disciplinary artist and tropical person who lives and works in Miami. Some people call her the “Beverage Lord”.
After graduating with a BFA from New World School of Arts, she bought a van with friends and moved everything to San Francisco. She spent seven years there, generating an arsenal of illustrations, working on sets, designing album art and enjoying the grand California Chill that surrounded her. Eventually her inner tropical person beckoned and she found herself back in South Florida, overseeing a full restoration of her father’s 38 ft. sailboat.
Working mostly monochromatically, she weaves a sharp eye for subtle humor into her work, acting as a mirror to the absurdities of life. Breez has an eye for details: she notices everything. She’s a sponge for the nuance of the unpredictable tropical wasteland she calls home. Breez finds herself also influenced by Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec, Henry Darger, Mary Blair, Rick Froberg and David Hockney.
